Empathic, empowering, and experienced – I use an integrative, individually tailored approach to meet you wherever you may be on your journey, providing support and skills with an easy going nature.
I am open-minded and progressive, intent on helping all clients feel comfortable and get the most out of the therapy process whether it’s your first time in treatment or you’ve been in therapy for years.
I am SOGI (Sexual Orientation Gender Identity) competent and believe that all abilities, religions, sexual orientations, races, and genders should feel comfortable in the therapeutic relationship. I am a strong supporter of human rights, civil rights, equity, and inclusion. And it’s not just the humans I care about – I have two rescue pups and I am dedicated to animal welfare as well!
I am also personally and professionally excited about the prospects that psychedelic treatments will bring to the mental health field and have undergone additional training to incorporate these treatments into my practice (see below).
Journey Psychological Services is inclusive and welcoming to all.
Education and Experience
I have a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) and over a decade of clinical experience in a variety of settings. I spent the early part of my career working full-time in inpatient hospitals with forensic patients gaining invaluable experience in treating severe mental illness and personality disorders. In order to balance my clinical experience and exposure, I worked additional part-time jobs as an adjunct professor and at a private practice. In 2014, I joined a company at the forefront of telehealth and began offering teletherapy to individuals coping with stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues, among other life stressors. In late 2020, I left hospital work behind and switched to full-time teletherapy with Journey Psychological Services.
I am fortunate to have had many clients from diverse backgrounds share their life stories and struggles with me. Each of these stories contributes to the clinician I am today. Over the years, I have developed comprehensive skills to treat a wide range of mental health issues.
Additionally, I have obtained specialized training and experiences to work with specific populations including: adults that were parentified as children, highly sensitive persons (HSPs) and LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly, transgender individuals seeking therapy or support for gender transition issues and gender affirming medical procedures.
In recent years, I have also become interested in psychedelic medicines and therapies and I have undergone additional education to incorporate these treatments into Journey Psychological Services. Psychedelic medicines are changing the way we think about mental health treatments and in some case, dramatically improving quality of life in just a few sessions. I’m excited to offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy and Psychedelic Integration into my practice and look forward to adding additional psychedelic therapies as they become available.
